What was the original purpose of Coca-Cola?
Coca-Cola was marketed as an invigorating medicine drink that would get rid of everything from headaches to fatigue. Coca-Cola got its name from two ingredients, coca leaves and kola nuts, which were included in the beverage. Yes, the drink many of us love today, at one point, included cocaine. However, at the time it was made, small amounts of cocaine were found in many patent medicines, which is what the drink was first marketed as. Furthermore, once the public turned against cocaine, Coca-Cola quickly removed the cocaine drug and marketed the drink as nothing more than a refreshing beverage.
