While working for Eastman Kodak in the 1940s, Harry Coover was trying to develop a clear plastic material for gun sights. He found that the material was extremely sticky and acted as a bonding agent. In this way, Harry Coover invented – some would say "discovered" – cryanoacrylates, otherwise known as Super Glue. He didn't apply his discovery as an adhesive until 1952.
