INPEX® 2010, America's Largest Invention Trade Show, was held June 16-18 at the Monroeville Convention Center, just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. INPEX 2010 had the highest level of corporate participation in its history, with more than 1,000 business attendees and a record number of product searches. In all, this year's show featured 1,500 inventions from 30 countries.
Contests Reward Inventors for Oil Spill Cleanup Inventions
On April 20, 2010, a wellhead on the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling platform blew out in the Gulf of Mexico. If you have an invention idea that could help the oil spill, now is your chance to act. There are several invention contests and programs that award prizes to the most innovative ideas on how to clean up the oil disaster.
While Eleanor Abbott of San Diego, California was recuperating from polio in the 1940s, she occupied herself with devising games and activities for youngsters who had polio. One of her inventions was called "Candy Land." Her young friends liked the game so much, she submitted it to Milton Bradley Company where it was immediately accepted. Since then, Candy Land has been recognized internationally as a "child's first game."
