InventHelp's Annual Food Drive for the Salvation Army

The holidays are full of joy because of family, friends, and holiday gatherings. But there are some less fortunate people who would just like to be full this holiday season. That's why InventHelp® and our family of affiliated companies is proud of our continued involvement collecting non-perishable food for the Western Pennsylvania Salvation Army.

Judy Kinlough With Two of Her Food Drive VolunteersEvery year we place boxes in our office buildings and encourage employees to donate non-perishable food items or paper products. InventHelp® also collects money, raffles Pittsburgh Panthers basketball tickets, and holds a 50-50 raffle to generate funds for the Army to include $5-$10 supermarket gift cards in its care packages. The gift cards are presented along with the food for Salvation Army Social Services Director, Wesley Kerlin, to distribute.

Judy Kinlough, Communications Production Coordinator, led the food drive again this past year, her eleventh year coordinating the effort. "Judy is just one of those rare people who cares so much for others," said a company spokesperson. "She's so giving and so caring that there really isn't anyone else you want running the show."

But Judy doesn't do it on her own. Each year around Thanksgiving, she and her crew of volunteers blitz our buildings gathering the amassed items and fill the bed of Judy's pickup truck! "Every season we collect more and more," Judy said, "and every year Wesley makes a fuss over it because we're one of the few companies that comes through for them year after year."

In addition to the food drive, Judy also organizes an annual collection to prepare care packages for people in shelters run by the Salvation Army. Items provided in these packages include soap, makeup, toothbrushes and toothpaste, razors and other shaving needs, and hair care products. "We started it three years ago collecting makeup and toiletries for the women in the shelter," Judy said. "Now we collect any small items that people may be able to use on a daily basis and create packages for men, women and children."

InventHelp® and our affiliated companies are proud of our community service initiatives, and we thank Judy Kinlough and all our employees who donate and volunteer for the food drives. We hope that these contributions help more people enjoy the warmth and true spirit of the holidays each season.
